Useful signs in Spanish

Sometimes while travelling it is easy to come across signs that you do not understand, so here is a quick and simple list of some of the common signs you may see in Cantabria and what they mean. These can help you avoid the embarrassment of walking into the wrong toilets or smoking in a non smoking area.

Entrada – Entrance

Salida – Exit

Salida de emergencia – Emergency exit

Empujar – Push

Tirar – Pull

Aseos – Toilets

WC – WC

Caballeros – Gentlemen

Señoras – Ladies

Libre – Vacant

Ocupado – Engaged/occupied

Fuera de servicio – Out of order

No fumar – No smoking

Privado – Private

No pasar – No entry
